First Hike in Seattle
This was my second time in Seattle and one thing I really wanted to do is go on a hike. Washington is a very green state and I want to enjoy the beautiful views it has. Before this trip I had planned on going to Sol Duc Falls in Olympic National Park, but I was told it would be better to go camping out there to actually enjoy it for a few days. So I asked my friends roommate about some nearby hikes and she was so helpful!! She also suggested this website which was amazing because you can filter your search depending in what region you want to stay in, the distance, difficulty and more. So if you are in Washington and want to find a trail check this website out! If you aren’t in Washington and you want to look up trails this website is very good too.
After looking at the Washington Trail we decided to do the Rattlesnake Trail. We saw the pictures of the lake and were sold on it right away. My boyfriend and I stayed with my friend in Seattle. He lives very close to Seattle University. From there it was about a 30-minute drive to the trail.
One thing I love about this trail is that there is good parking. They have a lot of spaces and even an extra lot in case the main one gets filled. The trail was very straight forward and labeled by a couple of signs. There were people going up the trail ahead of us so we also just followed them. The trail was about 3 miles roundtrip and I loved every single part of it. There were so many tall trees and it was just green everywhere!!
I recently haven’t been doing too many hikes at home, just some running and yoga, so I did get a bit tired going up. Especially since we were all talking the whole way up and that made it a bit more difficult. Anyways, when we got up, the view made the whole hike worth it! The view was breathtaking and the lake was so blue next to all the green trees! I had never seen anything like it! I’m used to seeing a city view, beach view and mountain view but nothing like this.

There was a higher point but we decided to stop there since we knew taking pictures was going to take a while and this area was a view directly over the lake and the other one was overlooking more of the mountains. So we decided the lake view. There was a lot of people just sitting taking a break at the top enjoying the view. It makes me so happy seeing that many people going on hikes and enjoying the beautiful views nature has for us.
To me hiking is more than a workout and a beautiful view. It is a beautiful place you work hard to get to and you know that once you get to the top, to this beautiful view, you know all your worries and struggles will just go away. Hiking brings me to a serene state of mind and that is all I want in life. I really hope others find this feeling with hikes as well. I fell in love with everything about this trail!! One of my favorite trails that is in my hometown! Daytime & night time views.
Franklin Trail in Carpinteria, CA is one of my favorite trails for many reasons. One of it being that it has such a wonderful view of Carp (as you can see in the picture). You have a good view as you go up too, not just at the end. You can stop and as you catch your breath, you can take in the beautiful view as well. I love it because it takes me about 5 minutes to drive there from my house, it is A-M-A-Z-ing! Aside from that, you get such a good booty/leg workout in and you don’t even feel it (until the next day).
The trail itself is a bit difficult because majority of it is incline, but its very easy coming back down. I’ve only been to the first part of it that takes you to the fence, that is about 2 miles one way.
I would like to keep going but I always go when I have something planned afterwards so I don’t know how much longer the 2nd part is. The first part always takes me about 45 minutes roundtrip, if I’m busting my ass up, but when I go with my friends/ boyfriend, we end up talking on the way up and that always adds a few more minutes haha.
I convinced my boyfriend to go with me later in the day to catch the sunset and let me tell you it was amazing!!! The hike wasn’t hot, it was cool and fresh, less people on the trail. The only down side is that we were attacked by mosquitos. But we got good pictures !!
I had such a great time taking pictures with him!! Oh and I made him carry me 🙂

Monday…. the start of a brand new week!! Finally done with my online class and my work schedule has calmed down a bit. So I will have more time to workout and post more on my blog 🙂
My brother bought a dummy (Century Bob Body) to do some boxing then ended up getting a membership for MMA (mixed martial arts), so I decided to make use of the dummy and do some boxing to mix into my workouts.
Equipment I used:
- Wrist wraps/ boxing gloves
- Something to hit …please don’t use a real person.
(Preferably a punching bag, or dummy)
If you don’t have either you can always punch the air
- & Music which makes the workout that much better
I did 3 sets of each in this order:
- Started with 1-2 minutes of jumprope
- 10 Burpees
- 10 pushups
- 20 high kicks or body kicks (10 with left leg and 10 with right leg)
- 10 squats
- 10 jabs with left and right
- 10 jab & cross combination (left and right)-
- 10 jabs, cross & hook combination (left and right)
- 10 jabs, cross, hook & upper cut combination (left and right)
- Then ended with a few stretches

I am not an expert at this, this is just what I add into my workouts to tone my arms. I’m still working on form and keeping that guard arm up. Also, if you try this workout be very careful of how you are hitting and make sure you protect your wrists with wraps. I hope you’re able to try this. Enjoy 🙂
I had crazy 12 hour shifts and finals so I wasn’t able to do yoga too often or post my progress. I am currently on day 25 of YBC Tone Up Program and aside from the boxing today I will be doing day 25 of the program. Today I started running again, which felt soo good. I ran along the beach and I have to say it was a bit difficult since its my first day getting back to running. I ran 3.1 miles in 31 minutes (and stopped a couple of times to take pictures 😏)
I ran all along the beach, next to the 101 Freeway with a beautiful view.
My goal for this run was to run 3 miles. I didn’t set a time goal because I just wanted to get into the rhythm of running, so I felt like making it under a certain time would set me up for failure.
For me running is very relaxing. It gives me time To think and to eventually let all those thoughts go, so by the end of the run i feel amazing. If you enjoy running you will understand how you can compare these long runs to a therapy session.
