Museum of Ice Cream in Los Angeles, CA

Museum of Ice Cream in Los Angeles, CA

I was so excited that I had the chance to go to the Museum of Ice Cream in Los Angeles, CA! (Can you tell from the picture) haha.

First, I have to thank my boyfriend for surprising me with our tickets. It was a great idea for a date for both of us. He said he had to wait online to buy the tickets because they were sold out. Once he had his turn to buy them online the first dates available were in 2 months, so we had to wait a while to go but it was definitely worth the visit!

There are pictures of inside the museum so I have warned you, in case you don’t like spoilers.

Fast forward those 2 months… So were pulling up to the location and I see this huge pink building! If you know me, you will know that I absolutely love the color pink. <3

I was so excited just with the pinkness of the building. Once we parked, we had to wait in line for about 15 minutes to go inside the museum.  They send you in groups of about 10 people so it doesn’t get crowded inside which is nice.

Then we get inside and there are Pink Palm Tress!! Yes you read that correctly. lol
Obviously they were fake, but I just get excited over anything that is pink.

I believe they have about 8 rooms you walk through and then they give you 4 treats as you walk throughout the museum. I really enjoyed 2 of them, the other 2 were interesting and thats all I will say. You have to go try them out yourself to be the judge.

I felt this was a perfect place to practice taking pictures for my blog. There were so many things to take pictures of and I was excited over the fact that everything was pink. So if you love to take pictures, don’t forget your camera!!

I won’t tell you what flavor it is but this is the first treat they give you!

All I will say for the next picture is they give you something that is mint flavored and this treat was probably the best one, in my opinion.

I have heard many comments about the Museum of Ice Cream. Before I went, I decided to yelp it and some comments were very harsh. This Museum was a perfect place to go one-time only. People were complaining about the price. My boyfriend paid them and I asked him how much they were and he said they were a bit pricey, but honestly they do give you a lot of stuff throughout the museum. I feel people have to be open-minded in order to really enjoy the place. When you go just be sure to take your time going through it  and don’t rush yourself through it all because then you will feel you didn’t get your money’s worth.

It is perfect place to take your little ones if you have any. Its a good place for a date too, especially if you like Ice Cream! One thing to keep in mind is, it is a museum. Me, being the ice cream lover that I am, was expecting more ice cream haha, but I told myself, its a museum, not an ice cream store! They should really consider putting an ice cream store at the end though, I’m sure it would do well!

Overall, I really loved this place!! It was such a nice surprise from my boyfriend. It was perfect because we didn’t have anything going on that day so we weren’t rushed to get back home. We actually went to San Pedro after this for some food and to a brewery which was really fun. Click here if you want to see what we did in San Pedro.

Rattlesnake Hike in Washington

Rattlesnake Hike in Washington

First Hike in Seattle

This was my second time in Seattle and one thing I really wanted to do is go on a hike. Washington is a very green state and I want to enjoy the beautiful views it has. Before this trip I had planned on going to Sol Duc Falls in Olympic National Park, but I was told it would be better to go camping out there to actually enjoy it for a few days. So I asked my friends roommate about some nearby hikes and she was so helpful!! She also suggested this website which was amazing because you can filter your search depending in what region you want to stay in, the distance, difficulty and more. So if you are in Washington and want to find a trail check this website out!  If you aren’t in Washington and you want to look up trails this website is very good too.

After looking at the Washington Trail we decided to do the Rattlesnake Trail. We saw the pictures of the lake and were sold on it right away. My boyfriend and I stayed with my friend in Seattle. He lives very close to Seattle University. From there it was about a 30-minute drive to the trail.

One thing I love about this trail is that there is good parking. They have a lot of spaces and even an extra lot in case the main one gets filled. The trail was very straight forward and labeled by a couple of signs. There were people going up the trail ahead of us so we also just followed them. The trail was about 3 miles roundtrip and I loved every single part of it. There were so many tall trees and it was just green everywhere!!

I recently haven’t been doing too many hikes at home, just some running and yoga, so I did get a bit tired going up. Especially since we were all talking the whole way up and that made it a bit more difficult. Anyways, when we got up, the view made the whole hike worth it! The view was breathtaking and the lake was so blue next to all the green trees! I had never seen anything like it! I’m used to seeing a city view, beach view and mountain view but nothing like this.

The Views

Excuse my hair that is all over the place, it was a bit windy up there.

There was a higher point but we decided to stop there since we knew taking pictures was going to take a while and this area was a view directly over the lake and the other one was overlooking more of the mountains. So we decided the lake view. There was a lot of people just sitting taking a break at the top enjoying the view. It makes me so happy seeing that many people going on hikes and enjoying the beautiful views nature has for us.

To me hiking is more than a workout and a beautiful view. It is a beautiful place you work hard to get to and you know that once you get to the top, to this beautiful view, you know all your worries and struggles will just go away. Hiking brings me to a serene state of mind and that is all I want in life. I really hope others find this feeling with hikes as well. I fell in love with everything about this trail!! Are there any other trails you love?

Dinner in Pismo Beach, CA

Dinner in Pismo Beach, CA

For this year’s Mother’s Day my brother and I decided to surprise my mom with dinner at Pismo Beach. We didn’t tell her where we were going we just told her to be ready by 1pm and to dress nice. We always drive up north and pass by Pismo Beach but we never took the time to enjoy the little town. So I mentioned to my brother we should find a nice restaurant overlooking Pismo Beach. He looked some places up and Ventana Grill had really good reviews, sooo we decided to give it a shot.

We wanted to have dinner early so we got there at 4:30pm but they were closed from 4-5pm to switch from lunch to dinner. We were the second party there so we got seated within 15 minutes. The restaurant was very nice and had a very nice view, so it fit exactly what I wanted. I didn’t look at the menu beforehand because all I wanted was the view.  So I was a bit nervous about the food.

As we were getting seated we were able to see the lady who was making the tortillas and all I could say is that she did an amazing job!! I feel like in most restaurants they are in the kitchen making tortillas so I was very happy to see them closer to the customers so they can be acknowledged for their great homemade tortillas.

Once we were seated they brought those homemade flour and corn tortillas with a cinnamon butter that were being made which was something else that was different than most restaurants. A restaurant will have a higher chance of being remembered by making themselves different than other restaurants.  They definitely stood out with me, starting with the lady making the tortillas.

Now lets talk about food!! The best part. For an appetizer we ordered the Nachos and they were perfect for sharing with everyone because they were a large amount. Then for the main entrees my mommy ordered a Teriyaki Salmon, that was perfectly cooked, I obviously had to sneak into her plate to try it.

I ordered a Chimichurri Rib Eye Steak that had a variety of zuchinis.

My Dad got the Molcajete that had a little bit of everything… Shrimp, asada, onion, noodles, avocado, cheese. This was actually a very big portion because my dad usually finishes everything on his plate and this time he left some food behind and had to get it to go. So perfect for sharing if you eat smaller portions.

My brother’s girlfriend ordered an appetizer, chicken sopes, that looked like an entree. The actual sope (the flour part) was pretty thick. I’m used to having thinner ones that my mom makes, so I’m sure those were very filling!

My brother ordered another steak that was a lot better than mine but unfortunately I couldn’t reach over everyone to take a picture. But I did get to try it and his steak was way better than mine. Overall the food was definitely quality over quantity!

So I actually take back what I said earlier… dessert is the best part 🙂

One of my client’s recommended this place called Old West Cinnamon Rolls. She said they are the best cinnamon rolls ever, better than Cinnabon and all those other chain places and the best part is you can order them online HERE. We brought a lot of them back but we finished them very quickly. Since I love sweets I will either go to Pismo Beach to get more or order some!

If you are like me and love sweets check out this dessert you don’t want to miss out on.

The pier was closed but there was a boardwalk that has stairs leading down to the beach which was very nice, very windy but worth the walk and pictures! If you get a chance to go to Pismo Beach, you should definitely check out these two places:

  1. Ventana Grill
  2. Old West Cinnamon Rolls

If you get the chance to go I’d love to hear all about it!!

San Diego

San Diego

We had been wanting to the San Diego Zoo and we were finally able to set a weekend aside to go. We went on a weekend where it had been pouring all day and they had warned people to stay off the roads, we almost rescheduled it, but we decided to just go. We left Friday night and got to San Diego around 12am. So were able to enjoy San Diego Zoo on Saturday.

We had planned to go to Hash House a Go Go but the line was so long we decided to go to get some bagels at a different store, which were very delicious and were a better choice so we could get to the Zoo quicker. I have heard Hash House a Go Go is a must so we will definitely be going back for that. I was bummed (& I still am) that we didn’t get to eat there.

The San Diego Zoo was a good time, now I can cross it off my bucket list.

Oh and this leopard was my favorite one because it reminds me of myself when I’m trying to make up my mind haha. Isn’t it too adorable <3

Next on my list is holding a Koala Bear 🙂

I was so lucky to have cousins who live in San Diego (Thanks Rafita and Sharina!!)  they were  able to recommend some good places to go to.  They told us of a lot of different places so we definitely need to go back, but Saturday night we decided to go to Florent and to Jolt’n Joes in Gaslamp.

I typically drink Jack and Coke but I figured I’d go with something different so I asked the bartender to surprise me and she made me a Copper’s Star Cocktail and it was the best moscow mule I have ever had and my boyfriend got a beer, of course 🙂

Jolt’n Joes was a very relaxing place to hang out for the night.  I really enjoyed it since it wasn’t over crowded and we got to play some ping pong.

& Lastly on Sunday (Since we only went for the weekend) We went to this amaaaazing breakfast spot called Elixir Espresso Bar. I looked it up on Yelp and saw that they had these delicious crepes. So I couldn’t resist… just look at them. My boyfriend isn’t too fond of the nutella and excessive sugar so I was happy to see that they also had a crepe with ham, egg and cheese.

But just look at that crepe!!! Makes my mouth water each time I look at it.

Oh and the cappuccino was good too !!  (Thats ^^^my boyfriend)
Props to the lady who was working that espresso bar all by herself & she still had time to decorate my drink 🙂

Dukes in Malibu

Dukes in Malibu

Yesterday felt nice being able to get out of Santa Barbara and Ventura for the day. My boyfriend decided to take me to Dukes in Malibu and I have to say it is a very nice restaurant. Great Views and Great food!

First of all the drive on the PCH is very beautiful and relaxing!

Once we got to Duke’s they gave us an estimate wait time of about 30-45 minutes, which we thought was a long time but it was a perfect excuse to go to their Barefoot Bar 🙂

For some reason I have been into Moscow Mules so I saw they had a Hawaiian Mule on their menu so I had to try it! It didn’t beat the one I had in San Diego though.  My boyfriend tried the Duke’s Blonde, which was pretty good beer!

The wait wasn’t too bad since we were at the bar. It actually felt like 20 minutes so that was nice. I fell in love with the view that we had from our table! The sun had already set, but it was still pretty!

First they brought us bread and ohh mahh gash… I fell in love. You have to have their bread with butter, especially when the bread is still warm. We ordered the Crab and MacNut Wontons (since we love the ones from Spencer Makenzie’s), but I wasn’t too fond of them, the mustard plum sauce was too over powering and lets just say, I’ll stick to the wontons from Spencer’s, but if you like Crab and Mustard it’s worth a shot.

My boyfriend had  Filet Mignon and I had the Parmesan Herb Crusted. They were both very delicious. The portions looked small but its definitely quality over quantity at Dukes. And after all the bread I had, it was a perfect amount and I still ended up being stuffed afterwards.

We will definitely be going back to try different dishes, to have more bread, haha, and to be seated while the sun is setting.

Crepes in San Diego

Crepes in San Diego

Our breakfast after our long day exploring San Diego. I woke up at 7:30am (surprisingly) woke my boyfriend up so we can have breakfast. It was pouring in the morning, but I was just craving this place because I looked it up on Yelp, it had good reviews and it looked adorable, Elixir Espresso Bar in San Diego.

He was too sweet and dragged himself out of bed for me and walked in the rain – about a 10 min walk- but he thanked me after.

The crepe I had was filled with strawberries, bananas and nutella and topped with more nutella and powdered sugar. Luckily they also had breakfast crepes with eggs and ham which were pretty good and perfect for him since he doesn’t have too many sweets… only when I convince him to have some.

Well worth the walk in the rain 🙂

Chocolate Chip Waffles

Joe’s Cafe waffles is one of my favorite places in Granada Hills, CA. I found out about this cute little place when I was going to school in CSU Northridge. Joe’s Cafe used to be very small when I lived there. Then I recently drove an hour with my boyfriend to have him try this place and they had made their place bigger which was very nice to see because that meant a shorter wait! They have the best waffles I have ever tried! If you know me you know that I am a chocolate lover and I will eat it with anything and everything, so I had to have chocolate chips with my waffles and they are delicious!
